Travel Guide to Capri 🇮🇹

Last September, we spent an amazing 3 days in Capri and fell in love with this place. It’s a popular tourist destination and can be quite expensive, but believe me, every single moment on this island is worth it. Capri has a luxurious vibe, especially with many American tourists around, but it’s still possible to explore the island on a budget and appreciate its beauty.

How to Get to Capri?

We arrived in Capri by boat from Napoli, which took approximately 1-2 hours. We booked our ferry tickets in advance on the caremar website, and the price was around €40 for 2 tickets. If you buy your tickets online, make sure to print them out in advance before onboarding to the ferry. If you prefer, you can also purchase your tickets directly at the port.

Getting Around Capri

Upon arrival in Capri, we discovered that our hotel provided a free mini-bus transfer to the center of Capri. However, since our hotel was only a 35-minute walk away and we didn’t have much luggage, we decided to explore the island on foot. It’s important to note that Capri is very hilly, so be prepared for constant uphill and downhill walks.

To explore different parts of Capri, there are three common transportation methods: public bus, taxi, and boat.

Public Buses

The most popular bus line runs between Capri and Anacapri, but there are also routes across the entire island. Buses usually depart every 15 to 20 minutes, with more frequent services during high season.

During peak season, you may need to wait in line for approximately 30 minutes just to board the bus. It’s a good idea to have some water and gelato to keep yourself refreshed while waiting in line. When the island gets crowded, it’s often more enjoyable to take a leisurely walk to your destination rather than waiting in the long lines at the bus stop under the hot sun.

The bus ticket costs €2.4, and you can find the bus schedule here.

Where to Stay?

We stayed at Hotel Weber Ambassador and were extremely happy with our choice. It was only a 5-minute walk to the best beaches in Capri, where we spent most of our days. The view from the hotel’s terrace was incredible. One evening, we decided to skip a restaurant dinner and instead stayed on the terrace with a bottle of wine and Italian snacks, enjoying a beautiful sunset. It was truly a memorable experience.

The breakfast at the hotel was also great, with offerings like bubbles and fresh orange juice. We started our mornings in style with mimosas 🥂😎
